Any business that imports and exports services and goods from the country must obtain an Import Export Code (IEC) from the government. DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade) under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) issues IEC to business entities. The main advantage of registering for IEC is that it is valid for life and no renewal is required for the Code. Not only business entities, but even individuals can also apply for IEC. The logic behind IEC is to regulate some restricted areas like nuclear weapons and automatic guns from the point of view of international trade<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
