FoSCoS license types (India)
License for all food businesses is mandatory as per the FoSCoS Act.
FoSCoS registration: basic food license issued for small businesses with a turnover of less than 12 Lakh INR approximately. FBO: Starting dairy with a capacity of less than 500 ltr/day. Trades: canteens, tea shops, food processors, and little warehouses.
State Licence: Organizations with profits greater than 12 lakhs and fewer than 20 Crores. Examples: Milk dairies with a capacity of over 50,000 liters/day.
Hotels(3-star rating and above):It is mandatory to get a state license irrespective of the annual turnover.
The Central License:issued to bigger businesses supplies food to government offices and departments. Trades with a turnover of more than Rs. 20 Crores. Food import and export commerce
Significance of FoSCoS registration:
A 14-digit food license contains registration and state code. All food packages should mandatorily have a label containing: FoSCoS logo and license number.
