What is the meaning of ISI mark registration ?

 

ISI mark is a certification mark for industrial items in India. SI mark is a mark which is authorised by the Bureau of Indian standards(BIS)to manufacturers , which they use on their product.ISI mark registration is mandatory for all the certifying products sold in India. The mark is meant for better quality and safety of the products. The Products having ISI indicate that products are in compliance with the Indian standard quality. Through getting ISI certification on your products, you are eligible to expand your business. If products sold in India don’t have ISI, then those products cannot be sold within the territory of India. The name ISI is a shortening of Indian Standards Institute, the previous name of the Bureau of Indian Standards.

ISI Mark Registration Process

 

Step 1

Choose the product code

This is the first step in which you have to required to select the product quality as per prescribed by the ISI.

        

Step 2

Filing of Application Form

This is the second step in which you have to file the registration application form . Attached all the required documents along with the application form. After that you have to pay fees for the certification

     

Step 3

Inspection of the Factory premise

This is the third step in which the inspection team and the authorized person visit the premises who is appointed by the government. The authorized person inspect the quality control process. After that the inspector or inspection team take a sample of your product and good for testing in lab which is approved by the BIS.

Step 4

Collect the Test report

This is the fourth step in which sample taken by the inspecting team submit the report to BIS.

   

Step 5

Issuance of ISI registration certificate

This is the last step in which the BIS, after proper verification of the testing report and application form, will issue a registration certificate.

The government of India, as well as Bureau of Indian Standard, makes it mandatory to obtain ISI on certain products sold in India.

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is an authorized body for the issuance of the mark.

It takes 30 days from the date of submission of an application.

    In the normal procedure, the client has to fill in the application form and then submit in to the nearest branch of BIS along with the required fees for the certification. After the application has been submitted, the officials visit the factory for the evaluation of the faculties and manufacturing processes. In this visit, the accuracy of the manufacturing process along with the capability of the manufacturer to produce adequate amount of products is assessed. After the visit, the products are sent to the laboratories for testing. Once testing is done, the test reports of the products are released by the laboratory. On the basis of this report, the certification is granted to the company.

    The product testing for the ISI certification can be performed in any of the laboratories that have been approved by the BIS. The BIS has a vast network of approved laboratories that can be approached for product testing for ISI marking. The laboratories have essential testing and calibration instruments that are capable of through testing of the products for quality, reliability and durability of the products. The testing procedure is not only best for ISI certification but it is also good for the manufacturers as it tells about the quality and accuracy of the manufacturing process and ensure the least number of rejections of the products.
